Getting the right peptide should not slow your project down. Custom synthesis delivers sequences up to 100 amino acids, with the modifications and labels your assay needs. You choose the quantity and purity, from crude to more than 98%, and scales run from 1 mg to several hundred grams. We offer 100% sequence accuracy with a no peptide, no charge guarantee.

Match the peptide to your experiment

1. Sequence. Send us the amino acid sequence of the peptide you are interested in. We will assess the feasibility and complexity of the synthesis.

2. Modifications and labels. You can add fluorescent dyes, biotin, phosphorylation, cyclisation, or non-natural amino acids where your assay calls for them.

3. Gross weight. You set the scale, from milligrams to hundreds of grams, with custom aliquoting on request.

4. Purity. For screening or immunisation, a crude or 75% peptide is often enough. For quantitative assays, structural work, or in vivo studies, choose higher purities of more than 90%.

Peptide Purity

Peptides can be synthesized at different purity levels ranging from crude to ≥ 98%. In addition, synthesis scales of any quantity from 5 mg up to several hundred grams are feasible, including customized solutions to meet any aliquoting requirement. By default, all research peptides are synthesized in TFA salt form and are delivered as lyophilized powder. However, switching to acetate or HCl salt form is possible to avoid aberrant responses.

Quality Control

Quality control (QC) for our peptide services always includes mass spec (MS) for identification, analytical HPLC for determination of purity as well as solubility testing. QC results and specifications for each peptide are listed in the corresponding Certificate of Analysis (CoA). Upon request we can also perform additional analyses according to your needs, e.g. TFA content analysis or water content tests.

Scoping your synthesis project

  1. Which sequence or construct do you need? Identify your target: a full coding sequence, a fragment for downstream assembly, a regulatory element, or a mutagenised clone. This determines whether you need cloned gene synthesis, uncloned fragment synthesis, or site-directed mutagenesis.
  2. Fragment synthesis or gene synthesis plus cloning? If you need a stable, sequence-verified construct in a plasmid ready for transformation and expression, choose gene synthesis plus cloning. If you need uncloned linear dsDNA, choose fragment synthesis. Fragment synthesis is available for sequences of about 100 to 2000 bp in length.
  3. Which vector? More than 160 standard cloning and expression vectors are available at no extra charge. These cover bacterial, mammalian, baculovirus, insect, yeast, and plant systems. If your backbone is proprietary or not in the standard panel, you can supply your own vector. A one-time setup applies for the first order.
  4. Which cloning strategy? Choose the restriction or insertion sites for cloning the sequence of interest into the vector of choice. Cloning options include various restriction enzymes as well as seamless cloning for your construct. The BioCat team will advise on the appropriate strategy based on your sequence and vector.
  5. Is plasmid purification needed? The standard service delivers miniprep-grade plasmid DNA (4 micrograms minimum, lyophilised). Higher purity grades, endotoxin-free preparations, and larger quantities are available on request.
