Cell Line Engineering

Custom engineered cell lines, from overexpression to knockouts, built to your specification

Building the cell model needed should not mean months at the bench. You get custom engineered cell lines to order, using lentiviral transduction, CRISPR genome engineering or other methods of your choice through experienced partners. The parental cells and the modification span knockouts and knock-ins, knockdowns, tagging, and single-nucleotide changes. Reporter lines and stable overexpression lines can be built too.

How to choose your modification

1. Loss of function. Knockouts and stable knockdowns remove or reduce a gene to test its role.

2. Knock-in and tagging. You can insert a sequence, reporter, or tag at a defined locus for tracking and functional work.

3. Precise edits. Single-nucleotide changes model a disease variant or correct one.

4. Expression lines. Stable overexpression and reporter lines give you a ready system for screening and pathway readouts.

Applications

Gene function studies

Knockout and knockdown lines show what a gene does, in a defined and reproducible background. You can start from catalogue cell lines or your own.

Disease modelling

Precise single-nucleotide edits recreate patient variants for mechanism and drug-response work.

Reporter and screening lines

Tagged or reporter lines track localisation, activity, and pathway output in live cells.

Target validation

Engineered lines confirm a target before a wider genome engineering or screening campaign.

Stable expression systems

Overexpression lines supply a consistent source of a protein of interest for assays.

Frequently asked questions

What modifications can you make?

Knockouts, knock-ins, knockdowns, tagging, and single-nucleotide edits are all available, along with reporter and stable overexpression lines.

Can you use my own cell line?

Yes. Specify the parental cells and the edit you need, or start from a catalogue cell line. Just tell us which modification you want in which background.

What technology is used?

Stable overexpression, knockdown or reporter cell lines are generated by lentiviral transduction. For knockouts and knock-ins CRISPR-mediated genome engineering will be used mostly facilitated by viral transduction as well.
