1-Step RT-qPCR (Probe-based)

One-step probe-based RT-qPCR master mixes for specific, low-contamination gene expression assays

One-step probe-based RT-qPCR master mixes combine reverse transcription and TaqMan-probe qPCR in a single tube. The format reduces handling steps, contamination risk, and per-sample cost while retaining probe-based specificity. Useful for clinical-research RT-qPCR, viral load assays, and gene expression where multiplex specificity matters.

Pick by sensitivity and workflow.

  1. Enzyme blend. The RT and DNA polymerase must work in compatible buffers. Some blends limit one-step performance compared to two-step.
  2. Sensitivity at low copy. For very low-copy viral load two-step often outperforms one-step.
  3. Multiplex capability. Validated for 4- to 6-plex on standard cyclers.
  4. Workflow time. One-step adds an RT step, lengthening cycle time but eliminating a handling step.
  5. Inhibitor tolerance. For direct-from-biofluid or crude-lysate inputs choose inhibitor-tolerant formulations.

Meridian (Bioline) and GeneCopoeia lead the catalogue.
