Additional Information Fusing a kinase domain to a homodimerization domain such as the ZNF domain can result in activated kinase. The FGFR1 Expressing Stable Ba/F3 (ZNF) Cell Line expresses activated human FGFR1 tyrosine kinase (ZNF-FGFR1 in MSCV vector). Ba/F3 cells expressing activated tyrosine kinase become completely dependent on the kinase activity for survival and as a result, the cells can be propagated even in the absence of IL-3.

The FGF family of receptor tyrosine kinases consist of proteins which bind to fibroblast growth factors. Family members are involved in numerous developmental processes, which include limb development and brain patterning. Recent research has shown them to be important in metabolism and phosphate levels in the body. Mutations in FGFR1 gene have been associated with Pfeiffer syndrome, Jackson-Weiss syndrome, Antley-Bixler syndrome, osteoglophonic dysplasia, and autosomal dominant Kallmann syndrome 2. Chromosomal aberrations involving FRFR1 are associated with stem cell myeloproliferative disorder and stem cell leukemia lymphoma syndrome.
