RNA depletion kits for removing ribosomal RNA before library preparation
RNA depletion kits remove unwanted RNA species, most commonly ribosomal RNA, from total RNA samples prior to library preparation for sequencing. Depleting ribosomal RNA rather than selecting for poly-A tails allows you to retain non-coding transcripts and RNA from degraded or low-quality samples, such as FFPE tissue, that lack intact poly-A tails. These kits are typically used as an upstream step in total RNA-seq workflows across a range of sample types and species.
