Immunogen This antibody was produced from a rabbit immunized with the KLH-conjugated peptide derived from human Mammglobin as immunogen. The IgG fraction (lyophilized antibody) of immunized serum was purified by affinity chromatography.
Background Mammaglobin (MAM) is a member of the secretoglobin superfamily, which also includes uteroglobin (Clara cell protein; Clara cell 1 kDa protein), lymphoglobin, and the lipophilins A, B (BU11), and C (lacryglobin; mammaglobin B). In human breast tissue, mammaglobin is secreted as a glycosylated peptide, which is covalently associated with lipophilin B. Mammaglobin, a mammary-specific member of the uteroglobin family, is known to be overexpressed in human breast cancer. It has been used as a specific molecular marker for breast cancer diagnosis. Mammaglobin is expressed mainly by breast epithelial cells, and this feature has been used to detect circulating breast cancer cells and occult metastases in sentinel axillary lymph nodes of breast cancer patients.
