Tween20 is a non-ionic detergent used often as a buffer additive to reduce non-specific adsorption of molecules to tubing, flow cell, sensor, and other surfaces. It can also help to reduce bubble formation. It reduces non-specific background, stabilizes proteins, and helps to wash clean surfaces. Tween20 is typically added at concentrations of 0.005% - 0.05% for most surface plasmon resonance applications.
